Congratulations to the 1984 Miss Wasilla and the Miss Alaska runner-up in the same year on being named the running mate of John McCain, 72, in the 2008 United States presidential election. Her vast experience, aside from being a pageant queen, includes sitting on the Wasilla (pop. 5469) city council, then serving as mayor of Wasilla. She was elected to governorship of the 47th most populous state in the union in December of 2006. She also managed to pop out five children, one of which has Down's syndrome, indicating questionable genes and questionable decision-making skills...if you know what I mean. Also, will anyone have the balls to ask how she plans to be vice-president (and, given her running mate's advanced age, probably the president someday) while raising a retarded infant?
In any event, we look forward to learning more about Ms. Palin's exciting life story. Congrats!

Ouch, CP. I wouldn't count her decision not to abort her Down Syndrome child as a mistake. Sure, it has a genetic defect, that makes its life more logistically complicated than most people's. But it is not an unwise move to let it be born and live, as Down Syndrome children typically do not 'suffer' in the way some children with birth defects do. They can live lone, happy lives.
My only problem with her bio in terms of her kid is that in just the first day of her nomination I have heard her child being used as an example of her having good character more times than I can stand. So she gave birth and has managed to meet her legally instilled obligations to this child... big fucking deal. You don't become vice president just because you are a 'decent' person.
The Republicans are already scrambling to justify this choice and it's pathetic. But I'm glad they made such a crap-ass decision. Just a shame it makes the next couple months alot easier for Obama and Biden.
Almost takes the fun out of kicking their asses.

*they can live LONG happy lives.
I hate typos. And no, that was not a freudian slip (way ahead of you, buddy...)

Hey CP. Long time reader, first time writer.
To the earlier comment on this about your suggestion that she should have aborted the last child, I think clarification is need on your remarks. I read what you wrote to mean that her judgement skills should be questioned for the fact that she, selfishly after already having 4 children, felt the need to have a 5th at an age in her life when birth defects are much more common. This judgement skill, I do question. If in fact you are saying she has bad judgement for not aborting the child, I too must disagree with you. I personally find a decision like that to be cowardly and admire those parents who accept the reality and the challenge that they have taken on, living up to the obligation they started when the baby-makin' began, regardless of if it's a perfect child or not.
Past that, you and I agree. Oh, and do you also find it amusing that McCain's choice for Vice President of the United States of America wouldn't even pass Senate Confirmation Hearings?
